Welcome/Purpose

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Welcome to BrightYellowRaincloud! I created this blog in hopes of sharing my witness of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, with anyone willing to hear it. I have recently received a testimony of Christ and welcomed Him into my life, and I want to use my faith to help edify and strengthen others, and to invite non-Christians to seek and receive Him and reap the blessings of a life filled with His love and peace that only He can bring.

This blog is not simply for one particular denomination or group of Christians. On the contrary, anyone who accepts Christ as their Lord and Savior (or is seeking to gain that relationship with Him) is invited to read, and hopefully be strengthened by, my words. For, as Paul said, "For I seek to know nothing among you but Jesus Christ and Him crucified" (1 Cor. 2:2) In other words, other divisions ought to be set aside when we worship the Lord, because the thing that matters most is something we can all agree on as Christians: He is our Savior and He redeemed us, and we love and want to serve Him!

I hope to use many different means of sharing Gospel truths with you: video clips, hymns and songs, personal experiences, scripture references, and many others. And my message will always be delivered in my usual fashion: with a dose of humor to drive the point home. I will do my best to post at least once a week, but no promises!

While I have a great deal that I wish to share with you all, I feel the need to give a small disclaimer. I am not an ordained clergyman. I have had no training in the clergical field, nor am I licensed to give professional psychological, legal, medical, or religious advice. My only credentials are my faith and my personal witness of Christ.

That being said, I feel that establishing this blog is a major part of my calling- actually, it's everyone's calling- to bring the Gospel to others and help them build a better relationship with God so that they can profess Him, be baptized, and continue the work of spreading God's Word. (In case you were curious, this special calling is often referred to as the Great Commission, and I will be sure to talk about it in a later post, but if you want to read more about it, check out Matthew 26:19-20.) I hope that my blog will reach many people, believers and nonbelievers, and help me to fulfill my Christian duty to minister to others.

want you to know that I do not consider myself extraordinary. I do not consider myself particularly inspired, exceptionally gifted, or even outstanding in my faith. What I am is blessed, called, and endowed with gifts that are not my own but those of the Father, who has given me permission to use them for His glory. I do not write to entertain, to gain attention or fame, or for my own purposes. I write for one reason: that God be glorified in me.

As I'm sure you know, God does not use extraordinary people to do His work. (Because, compared to Him, who among us is extraordinary?) Have you ever heard someone say that God doesn't call the qualified; He qualifies the called? As cheesy as it sounds, it's true.

Look at the apostles. None of them were professionals in the religious field. In fact, they caught a lot of flack from the religious community for not being "religious" enough. At least four were fishermen, and one was a tax collector. They were not ordained priests, or even particularly well-educated, for that matter. Most of them probably could not read or write. And yet these men- eleven of the original twelve, at least- went on to do incredible things in Jesus's name. They healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out spirits, and baptized thousands of people. Christ does not give His authority to the extraordinary, but to the ordinary, and through them He does extraordinary things. And I am blessed to be among those ordinary instruments He has chosen to use.

If you have a question or comment, or would like to learn more about anything I've talked about in the blog, email me at PeppersPetHuman1005@yahoo.com. Also feel free to email me any thoughts you have about the blog, or suggest future topics! I'll do my best to reply as soon as I can!

God be with you,

BYR
